Every dog photography session is a bit unique, just like your dog! Here’s what you can expect when you book a session with me.
Tailored to Your Dog’s Needs
I design each session to suit what works best for your dog.
- For reactive dogs, we’ll pick a spot with minimal distractions.
- For senior dogs or those with health issues, we’ll choose a location that doesn’t require much walking.
- If your dog is most comfortable in familiar places, we can head to a favorite local park near your home.
What Happens When You Book?
Once you book, you’ll get two handy guides:
- Prep Guide: This helps you prepare both you and your dog for the session. It covers tips like when to schedule grooming, what your dog should do before the session, and what essentials to bring.
- Style Guide: What you wear can make a big difference! This guide offers color and style suggestions that photograph well, plus links to Pinterest boards with nearly 200 outfit ideas.
When and Where Do We Shoot?
Most sessions are scheduled during the magical ‘Golden Hour,’ about an hour before sunset, when the light is soft and flattering. In summer, we usually start around 7:00 pm, and in winter, it’s closer to 4:00 pm.
Once we arrive at the location, we’ll take a little time for your dog to get familiar with me and my camera equipment. During the session, I aim to capture a mix of shots: some classic poses where both you and your dog are looking at the camera, and others that are more candid—like those sweet moments when you kiss your dog on the head or take a playful break together.
Focusing on Your Connection
My goal is to capture the special bond between you and your dog. So, you’ll be in most of the photos! Of course, I’ll also take some solo shots of your dog, including full-body images and close-ups. At the end of the session, if you want, we can even take a few headshots for your LinkedIn or social media.
Relaxed and Fun
The tone is always laid-back and fun. I want your dog to feel free to just be a dog — no need for formal commands. We’ll take plenty of breaks so everyone stays comfortable. Almost all dogs love the experience!
What Happens After?
The day after your session, you’ll get an email to schedule your ordering appointment. Often times, you can even have your appointment a few days after your session. Once that’s scheduled, I’ll send you a full proof gallery the day before your appointment so you can start picking out your favorite shots.
It’s all simple and stress-free — just how it should be!
