Preparing your Dog

EXERCISE

COLLARS

Clean, regular flat collars are good additions to your dog’s ‘outfit’. If you need a harness for walking, we can always change to the flat collar once we arrive at each picture location.

ABOUT GROOMERS

There will be excitement about the new place and experience.
For dogs that are very active, it helps to have some energy ‘used up’ so exercise them before your session if possible.
For less active ones, let your dog 'rest up' with a relaxing day before your session.

Groomer visits work best if they are a few days before your session. New haircuts usually look better after the first few days. Plus it’s overwhelming for most dogs to go straight from the groomer to a photo session.

things to bring

TREATS & WATER
TOYS
SHOES - COMFORTABLE PAIR FOR WALKING
PERSONAL ITEMS
TOTE BAG OR SMALL BACKPACK
Bring something special that your dog loves! Small pieces work best — think dime-sized pieces for large dogs and pea-sized pieces for small dogs.
These are great so that they can be included in some of your pictures and also make your dog feel more comfortable.
If you want to wear shoes for your pictures that aren’t super comfortable, you may want to bring a pair of tennis shoes for walking between locations.
Sunglasses, lip balm, hairbrush, lint roller, tissues, etc.
This is helpful to have as a convenient way to carry everything.
DOG BRUSH
If your dog has longer fur, this can help for touch-ups during your session.
