Fall photoshoots are winding down, so Iām excited to bake something special for my dog this weekend!
I found this easy recipe – Pumpkin Pie for Dogs. And the ingredients are simple ā you might already have everything you need.
Why Make a Dog-Friendly Pumpkin Pie?
Human pumpkin pie isnāt safe for dogs because of its high sugar content, which can lead to obesity, diabetes, and other health problems. Common ingredients in traditional pumpkin pieālike nutmeg, clove, allspice, and vanilla extractāare toxic for dogs. Consuming them can cause high blood pressure, stomach pain, and digestive issues in dogs.
The Benefits of Pumpkin for Dogs
Pumpkin is a nutritious, dog-safe ingredient. Itās high in dietary fiber, which can help with digestion, easing both constipation and diarrhea. Plus, itās loaded with vitamins (C, A, and E), potassium, and iron, supporting overall health.
Antioxidants in pumpkin, like beta-carotene, also boost immune health. Dogs love the taste, and itās easy to add to their dietāwhether pureed, cooked, or used in homemade treats!

- Ā¾ cup oat flour (see tip below)
- Ā½ cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1 egg
