For most of my adult life, I worked in the corporate world. Setting goals there? Not so fun. Goals came down from senior management, often as challenging mandates rather than personal aspirations. Now that I run my own business, 2025 goal-setting feels entirely different—it’s exciting and personal!
I’ve read books, listened to podcasts, and learned so much about how to create goals that are both meaningful and fun. One of my favorite podcasts is All It Takes is a Goal by Jon Acuff. His sense of humor makes goal-setting feel approachable, and his book of the same name is a must-read.
After a lot of thought, I’m thrilled to share my…
5 Fun Goals for 2025!
1. PHOTOGRAPH 150 DOGS
How fun is this?! I think it’s completely do-able since I go to a lot of dog-friendly events.
2. DONATE 30 PHOTOGRAPHY PACKAGES TO NON-PROFITS
Giving back is a big part of my business. I’ve built a great list of organizations over the years and recently expanded it with ideas from my newsletter subscribers.
3. ATTEND 20 DOG-FRIENDLY EVENTS
These events are fantastic for meeting dogs and their humans. I discover many through The Denver Guide on Instagram, and I also subscribe to a local newsletter, The Denver Dog Recon, packed with event details.
4. CONNECT WITH 15 DENVER PET PHOTOGRAPHERS
I’ve wanted to build a referral network for ages! Every photographer has their own style and specialty, and it’ll be great to collaborate. For example, I don’t photograph cats, but I’d love to refer clients to a trusted photographer who does. I’m off to a great start—I’m hosting coffee with 12 local photographers next week!
5. PHOTOGRAPH 10 BUSINESSES THAT SERVE DOGS
I’ve done a few business photography sessions already, including a retail store, dog walker, and pet photographer. It’s fun to get great pictures of the owners in action, serving clients. If you or someone you know wants branding pictures of a dog business for a website and social media, let me know!
Wishing you health, happiness, and plenty of exciting goals in the New Year! Let’s make 2025 a year to remember.
